12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
Every day as I rise, I should ask myself how I want to live my life today. Paul gives us a great example in these three short verses on how to live. As Paul reflects on his life in this passage, he reaffirms that even in his sufferings because he has lived his life in worship to Christ, Christ will save his soul so he my live with him in eternity. Paul tells us in verses 14 that we have also been given the gift of eternal life and we have also been given help with this gift because the Holy Spirit lives in us, to guide and help us if we believe and listen. What a beautiful gift.
Let us pray: Father help me when I don’t feel your presence to be patient and steadfast that you are always near. Help me also to have the faith that Paul demonstrated and lived so I may be fulfilled in this life and the next as I strive to follow you. Amen
