1 That is why we must hold on all the more firmly to the truths have heard, so that we will not be carried away. 2 The message given to our ancestors by the angels was shown to be true, and anyone who did not follow it or obey it received the punishment he deserved. 3 How then shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true. 4 At the same time God added his witness to theirs by performing all kinds of miracles and wonders and by distributing the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to him will. 5 God has not placed the angels as rulers over the new world to come - the world of which we speak. 6 Instead as it is said somewhere in the Scriptures: “what is man, O God, that you should think of him; mere man, that you should care for him? 7 You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor, 8 and made him rule over things.” It says that God made man ruler over all things”; clearly includes everything. We do not, however see man ruling over all things now. 9 But we do see Jesus, who for a little while we made lower than the angles, so that through God’s grace he should die for everyone. We see him now crowned with glory and honor because of the death he suffered.

These letters to the Hebrews are again needed instructions from Jesus and shared countless times to Christians of the land. These words apply as strongly today as they did then in telling us “PAY ATTENTION. “This scripture is telling us to stay in the correct lane of life and keep our faith strong!

As a young child, and even now, I am a daydreamer! My mind can drift off to thoughts of anything, but what a teacher was teaching or directions. Now, especially this time of year, I think of summer floats, smelling fresh grass and what’s on the barbecue. During this time I have to remind myself…. PAY ATTENTION!!! Rest and fun are always needed but we must remember to keep faithful habits and incorporate them into our daily life.

This scripture has inspired me to renew my work on praying, set aside time for reading the scripture, spending time being thankful for all the gifts we have so freely been given from our gracious Lord.

Lord we are so thankful for the countless blessing you have given through your death on the cross. Help us all to keep the good habits in our spiritual life and continue to learn and praise. Amen
