Faith in the Incarnate Son of God

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

 

These 5 short verses have a lot of heavenly guidance on how to live life in a positive manner, grow our faith and help others to grow their faith. In verse one we get the ultimate knowledge that to love God leads you to love his son Christ Jesus. If we love God and Jesus, the second verse is where we are directed to love not only Jesus but all God’s children who reside with us on earth. We are also directed to “keep his commands”. I often think of his commands to love our neighbors and to take care of the widows and orphans, the less fortunate! Life can be hard but if we focus on the goodness that is Christ, heed his advice and direction there is no challenge that can defeat our faith and help others. For if we have faith and spread that faith to others through our actions, our life here becomes so much more satisfying. We will grow in our worldly view and experiences for ourselves and the others we live and interact with here on earth.

Lat us Pray: Father help me to experience the joy that comes from helping others to know Christ through my actions and words. Amen.
