But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith, which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Paul writes to the Galatians to explain to them how by them wandering off to some other teaching, they forgot the truths of the faith they had in Christ Jesus. They showed discord and resentment to those who did not follow the law. They showed themselves not to allow all to come to faith but used it as an exclusive group. They were led astray.

Paul explains that all who are in Christ Jesus are equal. He removes the aspect of being under the law since it was fulfilled by Christ Jesus. He tells us that since we are baptized in Christ, we are to put on Christ in our lives. And he shows all of us that we are heirs to the promise because of Christ.

The law was what separated us from God. But the law also led us to faith in Christ. Jesus came for all. We are all one in Christ. The law is no longer needed. And yet even in these modern times, some people believe they must uphold the law to have eternal life in Christ. The ones that are deceived and those who teach this type of faith need to read these verses.

Lord, keep us in the faith with Jesus as the light in our worlds. We pray for us to remember that all are called to follow Christ and that we are no better than our fellow man. Amen!
