It's all about grace.

Pastor Roy Christell was called and sent to the Western St. Charles County area in October of 1980 to develop a new congregation, full of life, to reach out and grow throughout the community. Living Lord Lutheran Church began meeting in 1981 using a storefront property in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. The first worship service was held on January 25, 1981, in the 800-square-foot space with 131 people in attendance. As the congregation grew, Sunday School and ministries to the community began as well. Living Lord has always had as a high priority ministry with children and young people. In the early years, learning programs often spilled out of the storefront onto the parking lot in front of the strip plaza near the Lake Saint Louis dam. Our first confirmation class of 8th grade young people was confirmed in 1982.

Living Lord moved to our own house of ministry and worship on Lake Saint Louis Boulevard in 1985. We continued to grow and reach out to the community through various children, youth, and family ministries and outreach programs, such as our partnership with the OASIS food pantry and the beginning of Living Lord Preschool in 1998.

We called Pastor Jim Erdman in 1999 to join our spiritual leadership team. Imaginative and music-filled worship has typified Living Lord's congregational life. Ranging from historically traditional music through contemporary instrumentation and music, our worship is highlighted by sung prayer and praise. Building relationships with one another and with God has always been a high priority; to that end, small group ministries, study, and service groups have developed throughout the congregation. Partnerships in mission have been developed with congregations in St. Charles County, St. Louis City, and throughout the U.S. Members of Living Lord have traveled to Liberia, Haiti, and other overseas locations in response to God's call and the Gospel's inspiration.

Living Lord Lutheran Church continued to grow even beyond the confines of our expanded facilities on Lake Saint Louis Boulevard so new property was purchased on Highway 40/61 with a vision to move and build again. Living Lord broke ground on our current facility in March of 2001. We celebrated our first service in our new building on December 22, 2001.

Through the years, we have continued to serve through ministries in our local community and around the world. In 2008, Living Lord with other local churches supported the opening of The Bridge in Newtown. Seeing a need in the community, Living Lord began and continues to support a Teen MOPs (Mother of Preschoolers) program since 2005. Our yearly Vacation Bible School reaches numerous young people in the community with nearly 200 young people attending each June.

Living Lord is currently in a time of transition with both pastors retiring in 2019. Pastor Lanny Westphal and Louis Moehlman have been accompanying the congregation as we walk through the transition process and continue serve the community and world.
