Thoughts from Youth Ministry

Just wanted to give some updates on my letter from last month to keep everyone informed on where we are headed with our strategic goals for 2020.

First, we have six youth who have signed up to be participants in our Peer Ministry Leadership training that will commence in February. We have youth from 8th grade through 11th grade which is really exciting. The youth will be taking part in 20+ hours of training in which they will learn how to walk alongside their fellow students and friends in the midst of the challenges the young people are confronting. We are hoping to complete the training of this class of youth by the end of April. Be on the look out for their installation as peer ministers around then!

Second, a group of staff and congregation members have been called together to explore how we as a church can better reach and serve the young people of our area. We will be using the book "Growing Young: 6 Essential Strategies to Help Young People Discover and Love Your Church" which was developed by the Fuller Youth Institute. Over the next few months, our goal is to develop a roadmap for implementing the strategies outlined in the book here at Living Lord and then recruiting volunteers to put these strategies into place. Please be looking for these opportunities coming up in the next few months!

Finally, I would love to hear from you if there are any ways that I can better serve you and the youth of Living Lord. I am always willing to hear suggestions or to engage in conversations on how we can help our young people grow in their relationships with the church and with God.
