The scripture for today is Psalm 119 65-72.
65You have dealt well with your servant, O Lord, according to your word. 66Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. 67Before I was humbled I went astray, but now I keep your word. 68You are good and do good, teach me your statues. 69The arrogant smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts. 70Their hearts are fat and gross, but I delight in your law. 71It is good for me that I was humbled, so that I might learn your statues. 72The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
At times in our lives we strive to do the right things, to make personal sacrifices when we see others mock us or as the Psalm says ”smear me with lies”. It is a hard position to be in. Trying to do the right thing, following the two greatest commandments of loving God and our neighbor.
By following God’s law, we find that it is much more precious than material things such as silver and gold. There is no material reward, only the self-satisfaction that God would be pleased that we are keeping his word. Others may not deny themselves of anything, but we are happy to delight in God’s law.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we pray for guidance during these troubled times. Let us continue to be humbled when we go astray and lead us with your goodness to obey your laws.
Prayer Concern: Please pray that we may love God and our neighbor.
