The reading for today is Proverbs 28:14.
14 Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
Other translations use “reverent” or “fearful of sin” in place of “tremble”. This text implores us to be wary of our sinful nature and to keep God in our hearts.
Unfortunately, it is not hard to imagine a life without God as we seem to see that all around us. Centering our lives on God and our faith leads us through our day to day world. While we still sin, we know that we are forgiven and have hope. That hope is in the promise of forgiveness for our sins. God does not promise a perfect life for us, but through Jesus we have grace, mercy and forgiveness. Living our faith in the world may help someone else realize that they are not alone in the world and can find redemption through Jesus.
Dear God, Keep our hearts in your loving hands, guiding us to live our lives in your grace. May our light shine through the darkness. Amen
