The reading for today is Psalm 103: 8-13, NIV.
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious slow to anger, abounding in love. 9. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions from us.13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
I love reading this Psalm as it describes God’s great love for us! As we are children of God, we can be sure of how He loves us! He does not want us to wallow in the past. He forgives us, removes our sins, and forgets our sins! He wipes our slate clean. I know how difficult it is to forgive ourselves when we mess up, or when we are wronged by others! And not be judgmental but to put it in God’s hands instead. He is the true judge!
Recently I have to wonder how He sees things when He peers down at our earthly events and troubles. This praise psalm spells it out clearly. He continues to be merciful and full of love. Remember when you become discouraged with our current environment, we as believers are all citizens of the Kingdom of God. It helps me to put it into perspective!
Heavenly Father, Draw us near with your merciful love. Help us to become more like You in our thoughts and actions. Protect us as we continue our work on this earth until we can be joined with You in our eternal life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
