The scripture reading for today is Matthew 20:34.
Two Blind Men Receive Sight
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
Jesus is the great physician and this verse in Matthew describes Jesus’s compassion, unconditional love and how he recognizes how our faith can enhance our perspective on life.
Our humanness is restrictive. Even when we can see with our eyes, our faith perspective colors what we see in our life. Is the glass half full, or half empty? Is my future bright and full of promise or do my stumbling ways drag down my future? These are questions we face every day because of our humanness.
The blind men in this verse could not see with their eyes but their positive faith perspective understood that Jesus would lead them to a bright future. This example of the blind men’s faith is what we need to remind ourselves of every day. No matter what happens to us on earth if we have faith in God’s love we will be rewarded with an eternal life with God. That eternity can start today if we just keep our focus on God. We will have joy on earth and we will have disappointments. If we just keep our eyes open and understand God’s love; the disappointments of today will pass, and we will live a fuller life by focusing on God’s promise.
God does love us; He never forgets us. He will help us to see if we open our eyes and our hearts.
Lets us pray: Heavenly Father please enter my life today by opening my eyes to see the beauty you have created here on earth and the future you have created in eternity. Amen
