The reading for today is 2 Kings 19:12 KJV.
"Have the gods of nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the childern of Eden, which were in Thelasar?"
I read this verse. I read it again. I scratched my head. I read it again. This verse is a question. It is part of a dialogue with Hezekiah and Isaiah. What is to be said about this verse?
First, it is in present tense for the time in which it was asked. Keep that in mind. Second, it is asking how were these people delivered when they were destroyed? It casts serious doubt as to what man thinks he can do but what God does. The nations are only for record note. It could have been any nation.
Have you been destroyed then delivered? Have you seen others this way? God is always in the present tense in our lives. Scratch your head and ask questions. Ask questions in prayer. Know that God does deliver even when man destroys.
Dear Lord, Help me to stay in contact with You in prayer. I know that You can answer the questions and concerns in my life.
