The scripture for today is 2 Timothy 4:5-11.

5 As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully. 6 As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 9 Do your best to come to me soon, 10 for Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful in my ministry.

Do you live for Jesus Christ?

I do! Or at least I try to … :-/

I must admit, I fall down every now and then … :-(

I do indeed get caught up in this present world at times … :-|

As we live with the love of Jesus Christ in our hearts … and as we live in anticipation of our Lord’s second coming … are we being faithful stewards of all God has given us? Are we prepared for that great day?

When Paul wrote this epistle, his second epistle to Timothy, Paul was soon to be executed. He had been preaching for over thirty years. He was urging Timothy to be faithful with God’s Word … whether convenient or not. And this should be our goal … for ourselves and those we disciple.

God calls each of us to teach God’s Word. Every scripture is inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16). We are to “make disciples of all nations, teaching them everything that Christ commanded” (Matt 28:19-20). We are called to preach and teach scripture.

For over thirty years Paul continued to believe in Christ’s second coming and anxiously wait for it. Do you live for Jesus Christ? Are you prepared?
