The scripture reading for today is Psalm 121: 1 - 4 (NIV).

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

In my opinion, these are some of the most comforting verses in the Bible. It reminds me of two great truths: God is the creator or heaven and earth and that this amazing God never sleeps. God is a tireless worker. He never wearies. God is working for us around the clock. He does not take days off and he does not sleep. God loves to show his tireless power and wisdom and goodness by working for people who trust him. What a truth! What a reality! God is up all night and all day to work for those who wait for him.

I was read a sign that said: “The gospel is not a “help wanted” sign. It is a “help available” sign.” Do you need help? I know I do! The big question is, where do we look for help?

Lord God increase my faith. Direct my heart to turn to you when I face trials in my life and when problems seem to overwhelm me. Give me strength to face each day with the trials and temptations that come with it. Help me keep my heart set on you and my priorities in the right order.
