The scripture for today is Ephesians 6:13 NIV.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Not only are we clothed in God’s armor, but we are told to stand firm and to pray. The Holy Spirit provides us with full and complete armor: the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:14-18
As I read Paul’s words, I was struck by his word “when” evil comes. I think of evil existing in this world now. One only needs to watch the evening news to see many examples of evil working in this world. Remember to gird yourself with the armor of God, and be prepared to stand firm on His promises and His truth. The evil one is always looking for a chink in your armor. The world can beat us down. So, when you feel unable to hold fast in your beliefs, call on the Holy Spirit to give you the strength and fortitude to “stand firm”.
Dear God, Clothe me in your protective armor so that I have the strength to stand up for what is right and true. Amen
