The reading for today is Psalm 17:2
“Make a just decision on my behalf! Decide what is right!
When I was in elementary school, my babysitter asked me to settle a dispute between 2 of her grandchildren. Each one said the other had wronged them. My babysitter asked who was telling the truth. I chose the one I believed. The other one (who was older than me by a few years) was angry and demanded to know why she believed me rather than him. She replied, “Because Paula never lies.”
Now my confession. I chose the one I believed was telling the truth, but I didn’t really see what happened. When the babysitter suddenly pronounced me a trustworthy truth-teller, I felt awful. What if I was wrong?
People are sometimes wrong, even if they mean well. God is never wrong. He never makes an unjust decision.
Lord, thank You for Your righteousness. Help me, please, to be more like You. Amen.
