November 29, 2020 Daily Devotion

The scripture for today is Mark 13:24-37.

24 “But in those days, following that distress, “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ 26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.

Sometimes I pray this, “God I’m not always too good at hearing your still, small voice. It’s ok if you want to shout.”

Today, I feel as if He is shouting at me. Let me explain. Today is September 23. Looking ahead, knowing I would be very busy in the weeks to come, I blocked off this afternoon to write a few devotions. I read today’s devotion, Matthew 16:13-20 about how the time is coming when Christians must choose. Then I read the verses for my next devotional, Zephaniah 2:13-15, which was about the destruction of Ninevah. Now, this. Ok, God, I get it.

If you’re like me, and easily get distracted, consider this your wake-up call. Jesus is coming back. We don’t know when, but we must be ready. Reach out to your loved ones, your family and remind them to be ready. Then extend your hand to acquaintances. I believe it is past time to be subtle.

PS-I have time to write one more devotion and I’m a little nervous to look up that verse.

Come Lord Jesus, I welcome you into my heart. Soon, I know you will gather your Kingdom together in our Heavenly Home. Let your Word pierce hardened hearts like a fiery arrow and bring your flock that have strayed, back to you. Protect me while I wait upon this corrupt earth and use me as you will to spread your message to all that I can. Amen.
