The reading for today is Luke 20 verse 38, KJV.
"For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him."
Jesus gives us an explanation of the character of God. He talks of God being "of the living". He says that all live unto him. Notice it is all, not some. He also shows us more in this short verse.
Jesus says our God is not one of the dead. God gives us life. Both here and beyond the grave. Knowing Jesus will show us God. Knowing Jesus will move us beyond the grave. Knowing Jesus gives us life. Peter wrote that Christ came for all. Jesus tells us that all live unto him (God). Think about this.
Jesus tells the truth. He gives us confidence. He presents us unto the Father in Heaven as one of his own. He knows us just as God knows us. He calls us by our name. Neither are a God of the dead. Only the living!
