The scripture for today is Peter 4: 7 – 11, KJV.
"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover a multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Uf any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever, Amen."
First of all, let me state that I am writing this during the pandemic of 2020. That being stated, these word of Peter are even more so important to us as they were when they were written. Peter nails it!
He starts by writing about the "end of times". Many have said what we are experiencing now is part of these prophecies. He then warns us about our demeanor and how we are to handle ourselves. This is just the first sentence.
The second verse nails it! Even with all this going on, show charity (love). Do things without expectations from others. Do it out of love. Verse four tells us we are minister to each other, again, out of love. He tells us to be good stewards of the grace of God. He uses the term manifold. That is to be exact and to be with much power. Grace is both of these.
He shows us to do this with the ability God gives each of us. Some more, some less. But, each has Grace from God. And we are to be ministers. And give glory to God in all things. Both good and bad. He reminds us that Jesus has dominion over all things. Yes, even in these challenging times.
