When… Jesus Was Tempted
“No one who believes in Him will be put to shame.” Isaiah 28:10; Romans 10:11
“Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel 2:32; Romans 10:13
Shame seems to be the strategy of the day. Leaders use their words like missiles, to be fired over the boundaries of politics to attack and to shame their opponents. Facebook and Twitter are social media platforms now filled with hostilities and attacks on our character if we post a statement that pushes someone else’s button. Shame is like hot tar. It burns whatever it covers. The whole point of shame is to diminish the one who is being shamed. Shame is worse in guilt because it’s hard to wash off.
But God’s Word names us beloved! God’s Word shapes us and offers us a protection from shame. God’s Word promises that as we trust in God, as we received the good news Jesus came to guarantee, we will NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME. Amen. Thank you, God.
Everyone. All. No one is left out of this promise. All-inclusive is this word as it comes from the prophet Isaiah and from the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
Everyone. All. The Name above all names, the name proclaimed around the world in every situation is Jesus.
Everyone. All. God saves all who call upon the Name of the Lord, Jesus.
There is no guilt, no shame, no sin, no human made rule, no opponent, no arch enemy, no accuser in the shadows who can make this promise untrue or ineffective.
