The scripture reading for today is Ezekiel 3:14.
14 The Spirit then lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness and in the anger of my spirit, with the strong hand of the LORD on me.
This verse describes how Ezekiel was “hardened” by our God when he was sent by God to talk to the Israelites. God described them as being hard and in: verse 7, “But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.” So, God prepared his messenger Ezekiel to go the Israelites and deliver his message with the thought that they would not listen.
The good news in verse 14 is that God sent Ezekiel to the hardhearted Israelites. It shows me that even though God knows us, he doesn’t give up on us. He still sends messengers, prophets and his son to save us from ourselves. God knows our story and he understands we can’t get to him without his grace, and yet he lovingly provides this grace even though we don’t deserve it.
So, take heart. We are all sinners. God knows this and He still loves us.
Let’s us pray: Heavenly Father we praise you today and always because you are the reason we exist. Help us to grow in your ways and bask in your love. Amen
