The scripture reading for today is John 7:37-39, NIV.

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified

These verses in John announce the “Good News” that we are never to be alone or distanced from Christ if we simply believe in him. What a powerful declaration and signal of God’s unconditional love.

Life presents us challenges every day and God recognizes this because he understands that we can become dry and desolate when we distance ourselves from him. The Holy Spirit provides “living water” to the dry and desolate. God’s understanding of our human frailties and weakness should provide us with comfort in what can be a very uncomfortable world. We only need to reach out to him in prayer to hear from him through the Holy Spirit.

God has a plan and it includes all his people. Let us be thankful and grow in his love.

Let us Pray: Heavenly Father thank-you for our lives. Help us to live our lives to be a testimonial to you by reaching out to our neighbors in need. Amen.
