The scripture for today is Psalm 89: 1 – 4, KJV.
"I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens. I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant. Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Se'lah."
As I have written before, we have three options when we are given an assignment to write these devotions. The primary one did not move me at all. Zero inspiration. I read it three times. Nothing. Then, I read this Psalm once. It jumped at me!
Here we have the writer singing praises to the Lord. They are also giving us insight as to the personality of God. They write of his mercies. They write about the faithfulness God has to ALL generations! How cool is that!?!?! This is just in the opening verse. But wait, there's more!
He writes unto the reader that God's mercy is built up forever. He writes of the covenant God has with his people. He writes of God's seed being created. God does not break his promises. Three times it is written here the word "forever". God is constant. God is for all generations. No exceptions.
