The reading for today is Romans 8:26-27
Moreover, in like manner the Spirit also joins in to help us in our weakness, for we do not know for what we should pray as is fitting, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. But He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to God.
What a comfort. The Spirit joins in to help us in our weakness because we don’t know what to pray. Well, I can give a big AMEN to that! I literally just don’t know what to pray sometimes when praying about discord in my family. Neither party is 100% correct and I am not far enough from the situation to see a solution. Still, I think that is just scratching the surface of how much I don’t know what to pray.
When I have more time and I spend a bit more of it in prayer, I find myself wandering into new territory and feeling really refreshed by where the prayer has taken me. When I spend more time with Him in prayer, I move out from my small circle of family, friends and personal problems. I wonder how often I don’t pray for something important to God just because I don’t spend more time with Him.
Father, thank You for the way You meet every need. Jesus, I am blessed to be able to take Your name to the world. Holy Spirit, I am grateful for Your intercession. Almighty God help me be faithful to communion with you in prayer constantly. Amen.
