The reading for today is Proverbs 4:10-12
Listen, my child, and accept my words, so that the years of your life will be many.
I hereby guide you in the way of wisdom and I lead you in upright paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble
The Christian high school I attended my senior year had a time of corporate devotion led by our principal. Each morning he would share a verse from Proverbs. To me, the daily verse was no different than my dad saying, “Better safe than sorry.” Or “Don’t take any wooden nickels.” They were a wonderful assortment of little sayings that I thought would make me a bit smarter as I moved into adulthood.
Little did I know that those daily verses were packed full of wisdom that would someday protect my daily spiritual walk. I’m thankful now for the people God placed in my life to bring me up in His Word.
If you don’t already have the daily habit of dwelling in a verse from Scripture, I would like to encourage you to turn to Proverbs and spend time with 1 verse each day.
Lord, we are thankful for the wise people You have placed in our lives who share You with us in a variety of ways. Thank You, also, for the people You have placed in our lives for us to share with. How blessed we are that You have given us not only Yourself but each other. Amen.
