June 15, 2020 Daily Devotion

The reading for today is Psalm 105: 1-11, KJV.

" O GIVE thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye all his wonderous works. Glory ye his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and his strength: Seek his face ever-more. Remember his marvelous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth. O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac. And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant. Saying, Unto thee will I give land of Canaan, and lot of your inheritance."

Wonderful Psalm! The writer is unknown. However, we know they were inspired by God and lead by the Spirit. The first five verses are those of praise and remembrance. Think about this. We, humans, can relate to trying to remember something. The mind retains everything in your life. Well, the doctors and scientists say this. But the reality is our problem.

The writer tells us to remember all that God does in our lives. They continue this in the last portion of this devotion. They show us our decedents and tell how God does not break his promises. Man does, but God does not. The writer talks about the judgments of God. These too we are to remember. Think about this.

God showed those under his covenant the "promised land". Also, not that all these things are for-ever with God. We are to tell others of what God has done in our lives. We are to remember God's promises in our lives. We live under his Grace!

Your covenant, O God, is eternal and unconditional, and your love never ends. In spite of our weakness and sinfulness, You remain true. Praise to You for Your gracious generosity. Grant us the humility and strength to follow Your ways.
