The scripture for today is Psalm 138:1-3
1 I will give you thanks with my whole heart.
Before the gods, I will sing praises to you.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple,
and give thanks to your Name for your loving kindness and for your truth;
for you have exalted your Name and your Word above all.
3 In the day that I called, you answered me.
You encouraged me with strength in my soul.
I don’t know about you, but often I find that David had a way of writing exactly what I needed to hear or wanted to say. Without a doubt, we know that David gave thanks and praise to God with his whole heart. There was no room for mixed motives or divided devotion. David lists his reasons for praising God. These reasons include God’s loving kindness, His truth and the fact that His name is exalted above all.
In my life, I have been super blessed to be able to call upon the comfort of our Lord, and without any question, He brought me the peace that passes all understanding. Now, I also admit there have been critical times in my life when my first thought wasn’t to ask God to be with me. And afterwards, I would knock myself in the head, and say to my self – “What were you thinking!?!”
The last verse of this scripture reminds us that God has encouraged me and that He strengthens my soul.
Dear Lord, I am so thankful for Your loving kindness and Your truth. Help me to keep my praise for You on my lips today.
