The scripture reading for today is Psalm 140:6 NIV.
"I say to the LORD, You are my God: hear, Lord, my cry for mercy."
From all dangers, seen and unseen, David knew that God could defend him. And he
confidently believed that God would.
There was never a question in David's mind that he belonged to God. How often do we
question if we belong to God? If God is really there? If we matter to God? We must
learn from David and have this unwavering belief that we belong to God. Even though
our enemies seem to be surrounding us, we must never forget that the Lord is our God.
We matter. God is there today, tomorrow and always. This verse is almost a desperate
cry from David saying, you are my only help, don't let me down. God is our help, he is
our God, we are His. When we feel defeated and as if we cannot go on, God hears our
cry. How blessed are we to have a merciful, loving God to hear our cries.
God, you are my God, and I will ever praise you.
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days. Amen
