The scripture for today is John 1:10-18, (NIV).

10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? Have you already broken your New Year’s resolution? If we do not have goals that we are working toward, there is a huge risk that we are not going anywhere.

Verse 12 reads, “But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God.” As you begin this New Year, Christ is inviting you to make a resolution to know deep in your heart that you can be more than you are today only because of the incredible grace that God has granted us!

As children of God, we must expect and demand that we would do incredible things with our lives. So, all together, let us embark on another year with raised expectations and the understanding that God has called us to become His children…His incredible children who can share words and actions of peace, hope, joy, love, and grace to this world.

Lord, as I begin this new year, help me to know deep in my heart that YOU matter! Help me to walk through this year reflecting that I am a child of God.
