The reading for today is Jeremiah 31:14 NIV.

14 I will satisfy the priests with abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty,”

Jerimiah 31:1 “At that time,” declares the LORD, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.”

This is what the LORD says: I start with verse 1 because verse 14 doesn’t give the background to why God would “satisfy the priests with abundance” but the previous verses in this chapter testify to the fact that God had changed the way he dealt with the families of Israel. He had led them away from the sword of their oppressors and led them through the wilderness. After these trials God again openly smiled on the Israelites and promised that their lives would become better because God loved them. The news couldn’t have been any better!

Isn’t the way we feel at different phases in our lives much like the way the Israelites must have felt in Egypt and in the wilderness. There are times today that we feel blessed and times that we feel abandoned. The truth is we are always blessed. Sometimes we feel and see our blessings and sometimes we don’t because God has not revealed “the vision” what his plan is. The majority of times I feel lost is just prior to God opening a door or providing me guidance. I know at this stage of my life I just need to believe, pray, listen and God will provide an answer to my requests. It may not be the answer I want, anticipate or envision but he does answer me if I keep my eyes open so I can see his answer. I end with this one line from a favorite hymn: “Our God is an awesome God, he reigns from heaven above with wisdom, power and love”. We just need to understand that he knows how to move us forward in his plan with wisdom, power and most importantly love.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father help us to understand your love and plan for us both individually and collectively. Please use us to further your plan and spread your goodness and love. Amen
