January 4, 2019
The scripture for today is Isaiah 6:3.
And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
I picture a scene like this when I imagine heaven. A host of angels, constantly singing. What would it be like, if we could praise and give thanks every day. It would be like a little taste of heaven, here on earth.
So, I have this idea. A lot of people start new habits, new resolutions this time of year. I've heard a gratitude journal, writing down 5 things each day that you are thankful for, can be life changing. However, I'm not really a journal writer. So, this verse inspired me. Our Creator leaves us signs of his glory everywhere we look. It is why spending some quiet time, outdoors is so refreshing for many. So, I'm going to get my new 2019 calendar, sit down, and for each day, I'm going to write down one amazing thing from God's creation. Then, when I look at my to-do list for the day, I have one thing to reflect and give thanks for.
1/1 The constant rotation of the earth
1/2 How the Sun, 90 million miles away, can warm our planet
1/3 How the human brain works
1/4 How Snowflakes are unique
You get the idea. We'll see how this works.
Glory to you Lord God Almighty! I could praise you morning, noon and night for 10,000 years and I'd barely scratch the surface of the wonder of You. Open my eyes, guide me throughout this year to see and appreciate your creation. Thanks for this world and the promise of spending eternity in the Light of your Glory. Amen.
