The scripture for today is Jeremiah 36 verse 27 (KJV).
"Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Ba'ruch wrote on the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,"
What is to be said of this verse? The verse is a set up to the next verse and a continuation of the previous verse. So, why pull it out of context and have a devotion on just this verse? Here is my point of view on this verse.
First, we see the Word of the Lord coming to his prophet. We know God's words are received and shared to all who read his book. So, though the roll is burned, we still have God's words. Also, the king was trying to show his might to the prophet and his scribe (Ba'ruch) yet God would have nothing to do with the king.
God shows his might through the obedience of his chosen prophet. God does everything by his Word. He formed everything by his Word. How is it man can overcome what God has intended? We have God's Word in our hearts. God gave us a new covenant for us in Christ. He wrote this in our hearts.
Man may attempt to destroy every image of God. Man may try to distort the image of God. Man may think he is equal to God. Yet, God is still there, as he has intended. God shows his power in many ways. Be alert for God's power in your life. God is real!
Lord, show us your power in our lives that we too may minister to others who do not see you as we know you. Amen!
