The scripture for today is Jeremiah 1:4-10, KJV.
"Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, "Before I formed you, I knew thee; and before thou comest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Then said I, "Ah, Lord God! behold I cannot speak for I am a child." But the Lord said unto me, "Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shall speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee." saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand and toughed my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, "Behold I have put my words in thy mouth See, I have this day set thee over nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant."
Where do I begin? This maybe one of the most timely opening statements of a book in the Bible ever written. I could start with God's plan for each of us (verse four). I could talk about how God leads us (verse seven through nine).
But, look at the last verse in this section. God, who created everything, shows us who really has the power in all things. God does. We are his instruments. He created each of us. He called us. He leads us. He gives us power.
God created the nations. God also removes them. Do we think man has any bearing on these situations? Hardly! God will remove and plant at the same time. God gives us our words. God knows the reactions of others before they do and before we do.
Father help me to hear Your Word today so that I may be Your instrument as I travel through my day.
