The scripture today is Psalm 99:5 (NIV version)
“Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.”
Well that just about says it all! In all the confusion in the world today, we may lose sight of what is important. We may forget to concentrate on what is good and right. We may look at what people are doing in the world, for good or evil, and wonder where the hearts of the people stand. I know that in the craziness of life, the worry, the fear, the anger and yes, the joy, I may forget for a moment who is ultimately in charge. Taking a deep breath, closing my eyes and praying to the Holy One is the only way I can get my “center” back.
There are many good and kind people in the world. In my opinion, the best are those who humbly look to God and follow this simple instruction; Exalt God and worship Him for He is the only true Holy One. Hallelujah! If this is the basis of our lives, all other confusion fades away. If we center our thoughts, our words, and our actions from the Lord’s footstool, we do not have to fear losing sight of what is right.
Dear God, the only true Holy One, please help us as we travel through this life to always remember that we need to continually exalt You and worship at Your feet. When we lose our way, please bring us back quickly to this simple truth. Amen
