The scripture reading for today is Psalm 38:9(NIV).
“All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.”
There’s a well-known children’s book called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Can you relate to the title? Life can throw us into such chaos and emotional turmoil with busy schedules, illness, car problems, crazy relatives, work burdens, complicated relationships, financial woes, and more. We can feel like Alexander. But God is our refuge and hope in all circumstances. His love, mercy, grace and forgiveness are ours as His children. I recently saw an image posted on Facebook that has resonated with me. It shows a notebook page with wet spots left from someone’s tears. The caption reads, “He knows”. And He does. But more than knowing the burdens we carry, He shares in the hurt and offers His comfort, love, direction and peace. “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deut. 31:8
Our sighs are heard, known by the One who can understand – who knows our needs and longings to the depths of our despair and hurt. So, if your prayer is just a sigh, know that God hears, knows and cares.
Please hear the sighs of Your people and give them comfort, peace and strength.
