The scripture for today is Proverbs 30:7- 9.
7 Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die; 8 Keep falsehood and lies from me; give me neither poverty nor riches but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, " who is the Lord? " Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
Three short verses that say so much. I have often dreamed of winning the Lottery. Right now, both the Mega/Powerball are over 600 million a piece. I say I would pay off my debts, fix my house (the contractor should be delicensed) pay off the Church mortgage, and put the rest in a foundation to give monies to my family, build housing for the homeless so they can bathe and have a place to sleep, and buy some land for a no kill animal preserve. But would I really when tempted with the greed of winning that kind of money. I would like to think that I would. God has ALWAYS taken care of me, just like Matthew 6.
I would never want to be tempted to disown the Lord or dishonor His name.
I love music. Had lessons from ages 5 to 17 for both the piano and singing. Loved both. Had to leave my piano in CA and lost my voice due to chronic sinus infections. I still sing in the car. No one can hear me and tell me to stop. I sing praises to the Lord listening to KJoy on my way to and from work. People ask me why I work. To pay bills, but also it keeps me going and I feel it keeps me young. Sometimes I get carried away in the car and jive to the music. I will glance over at the car beside me and they will smile or laugh. Yes, I am crazy. I am crazy for Jesus and hope I never disown or dishonor Him, EVER, and sing praises to Him ALWAYS.
Lord, you know that I am a sinner. You still love me and care for me. As I get ready to take my journey to you as the writer of Proverbs, Solomon, I ask the same as he. Keep me from lies and falsehoods, and may I never disown or dishonor you. AMEN
