The scripture reading for today is Psalm 78:17-20, 52-55
“But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.
They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved.
They spoke against God saying, "Can God spread a table in the desert?"
When he struck the rock, water gushed out, and streams flowed abundantly. But can he also give us food? Can he supply meat for his people?
But he brought his people out like a flock; he led them like sheep though the desert.
He guided them safely, so they were unafraid; but the sea engulfed their enemies.
Thus, he brought them to the boarder of his holy land, to the hill country his right hand had taken.
He drove out nations before them and allotted their land to them as an inheritance; he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.”
Your faith in God is tested many times and He reinforces his love and care for us daily. I can think of many times I have been loved by God and felt His loving care for me and others.
This Psalm reports the situation of exodus. It's easy to imagine the frustration the people had in the desert. Sometimes we all feel hunger and are discouraged with our situation, even when God's food is here for us.
Heavenly Father, thanks for being here for us when times are tough. Remind us of your never-ending love. Help us to show others your Grace.
