The scripture reading for today is Matthew 17:1-9, NIV.

9As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them. " Don't tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."

Jesus has taken Peter, James, and John to the mountain. Here the Transfiguration takes place. Peter says that he will build three tents to honor Jesus, Elijah and Moses.

They just don't get it. I feel like them sometimes. I don't get it either.

The disciples came down from the mountain, told everyone and forgot what Jesus said.

He had asked them NOT to tell people. But don't we consistently do what Jesus tells us not to do.

He gives us guidelines to live by, but we go against His wishes and sin. We are not perfect.

As I have said before, I listen to KJOI on the way to work and coming home. I listen to the words and stories that go with the songs. The singers tell their own stories of sin, despair and salvation. Then from the ashes come the songs that give us hope and a future.

The Son of man has been raised from the dead. Hallelujah. Amen
