The scripture reading for today is 2 Corinthians 1:12 NIV.
Paul’s Change of Plans
12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.
Verse 12 of this chapter is significant in that it shows Paul’s faith in God and it also recognizes his humanity. The letter to the Corinthians was meant to tell them to hold fast in their faith in Christ even when they were disappointed by events of the day (Paul wasn’t coming to visit as he had promised), promises not kept by church leaders or the difficulties of life in general. The blessing and curse of humanity being given free will is that sometimes we are going to see wonderful growth in our community of believers and sometimes we are going to see no growth or negative growth in our community of believers. Paul recognizes these facts and also testifies to keeping your faith in Jesus because he never falters, never misses promises and has motives that are unquestionably pure. We might have difficult times and relationships here on earth, but we will always be blessed by the love of God and his grace in the end.
So, if your day is difficult, unsure, or cloudy as it’s unfolding to you, remember that God has your back and he is always present through the Holy Spirit to help you. Just open your heart through prayer.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father help us to see and recognize your love for us this day and forever more. Amen
