The scripture reading for today is Psalm 119.
1 Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. 2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— 3 they do no wrong but follow his ways. 4 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. 5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! 6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. 7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. 8 I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.
The Psalms always give me pause because of the deep thought and messaging that God sent through the chapters and verses of the Psalms. Essentially 119 tells me that the way to live a fulfilled life is to follow the Lord’s decrees. As I study verses 1, 2 and 3 it reminds me that God tells us how to lead a full life. For if we follow his guidance, we will always be grateful for his gifts and not doubt the way we live our lives. Living confidently in the Lord leads to peace and fulfillment.
So, as I continue my life this Psalm tells me I need to strive to live in the ways of the Lord as a way to pay him tribute for my life. This reminder helps me keep my actions, thoughts and prayers grounded in God’s principles.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father help us to focus on you as we live our lives today. This is the way to spread your love to the people all around us in our lives. Amen.
