The scripture for today is Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV).
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.“
You’ve probably known someone who is “obsessed” with a new device, hobby or series. This might even have been you at some point. You were probably not fully intentional in where your interests took you –literally or figuratively speaking. The only thing you may have wanted to talk about was this thing or interest; it may have filled your time and used up resources to maintain. Imagine if you could switch your focus to the only thing that really counts…being a child of God. It’s not that having an interest or hobby is bad, it is when our time and energy are taken over and crowd out God. Surely Satan is reveling in this altered focus away from the one true Light. The psalmist says that those who “delight in the law of the Lord, and who meditate on his law” are blessed. Imagine not being the one blessed, but by living as a follower of Christ, how your life can bless others. It’s blessings multiplied. What can you do today to be a blessing to others? On this Valentine’s Day, make time to spread love to those who are lonely and feeling forgotten. I encourage you to extend a few minutes to connect with someone in your community or workplace who may be isolated or alone. The bible instructs us to “Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 You can make a difference today in someone’s life!
Please guide my words and actions so that I may be a beacon in this world to shine Your love and abundant grace to those who are weak, downtrodden and lost.
