The scripture for today is Luke 5 verse 10 KJV.
"And so was also James, and John, sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men."
We sing the song in church with the lyric "Come and follow me". It tells of this story of the calling of the fishermen who became apostles of Jesus. Think about that. Just a bunch of guys trying to make a living by catching fish. Simon was a sinner (verse eight) just like us. Yet, Jesus chose them.
Jesus calls us to follow him every day. He also teaches us to love rather than hate. He shows us true love by taking on our sins. Here is Jesus making the choice to have sinners in his group of followers. Not the rabbis, scribes, or priests of the temple. Just a bunch of guys fishing.
Jesus also made a profound impact on James and John, Simon's business partners. They too became disciples of Jesus and followed him. Jesus does that to people. He changes them. He molds them. He calls them by their name.
Lord, call us by our name that we will be with you. Amen

Prayer Concern: When Jesus calls us, answer him. For he knew us before we were formed. Become fishers of men
