The reading for today is 2 Chronicles 35:20
“After all this, when Josiah had set the temple in order, Necho king of Egypt went up to fight at Carchemish on the Euphrates, and Josiah marched out to meet him in battle.”
First things first.
Do you ever get so determined or motivated or organized . . . preoccupied with something that is coming up that you act without waiting on the Lord? I do. I’m an organized planner by nature and I tend to let my natural tendencies carry me off.
Josiah knew how to put first things first. He set the temple in order. The temple was the place where God met man, where sacrifices were made, and worship given to the Almighty. With that in order, Josiah felt confident marching out to battle.
Lord God, thank You for Your excellent guidance. Please keep me from ignoring it. Amen.
