The scripture reading for today is John 21:20, New Living Translation
20 “Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved--the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, "Lord, who will betray you?"”
Human beings have many qualities in common. However, our need and desire to be loved is paramount. Without love, we are frightened and lost. Our need to be special and to be loved is at the core of who we are as human beings. All of us need to know and believe that we are loved and lovable.
How would you feel if someone referred to you as “the disciple Jesus loved?” What a description! Have you ever thought of yourself as being especially loved by Jesus? Believe it or not, YOU ARE!
To love Jesus and be loved by Jesus is to “follow” Him.
Jesus walks with each of us every day and every moment! Perhaps the question for us is: will we choose to walk with Jesus every day?
Dear God, we give thanks for the Christians who went before us and for their living testimony of faith that continues to strengthen our own. Help me to know in my heart that I am loved and help me to walk with You today and every day. Amen.
