The reading for today is Mark 9:9 ESV
“And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.”
Why did Jesus not want any of his disciples to tell about the Transfiguration until after the resurrection? How could they be expected to keep something so astonishing to themselves? Jesus’ words were a foreshadowing of his death and resurrection to come, but Peter, James and John did not understand this at time. So, they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead might mean. We have the benefit of the entire bible to know of Jesus’ birth, ministry, death and resurrection. With the approach of Christmas, let us remember why Jesus came to earth in the form of a little baby. It is for our redemption. It is because of His great love that He has for us -so undeserved, so generous, just because He truly loves us.
You provide for my every need and have made salvation as a gift to all who believe. Help me to share your word with everyone I meet.
