The reading for today is Jude 21
Keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
The verse just before this one talks about prayer. That’s exactly how I think we keep ourselves in the love of God.
I need to be reminded constantly to keep myself in the love of God. I get impatient when the driver in front of me is on their phone or someone leaves their children unattended in a public place or a neighbor let’s their dog do its business in my yard and doesn’t pick it up. I have to make a choice. I can react by saying or doing something that doesn’t express God very well; I can grumble within myself so that I am robbed of my joy and satisfaction in Him; or I can go to Him in prayer.
More and more I make the choice to go to Him in prayer. It makes me feel better and it reminds me to love others the way He loves them.
God, I am so thankful for Jesus who gave all for me despite my sin. Keep me in Your love and help me understand it more each day. Amen.
