December 14, 2019 Daily Devotion

The reading for today is Matthew 11:10.

“For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you. “

This verse refers to John the Baptist. God says (to paraphrase) "I put him right in front of you face!" But, I wonder, how many people actually recognized John for the messenger who was preparing them to receive the long-awaited Savior.

Today after service, I was thinking about our situation at Living Lord. We are blessed and so grateful for Pastor Lanny. Louis and the guest pastors. Their messages and leadership have kept us on the path in our daily lives. They are also preparing us for our new spiritual leader. Let's listen and learn, stay true to our mission so we're prepared and ready to recognize them when God places them "in our face."

Dear God, your servants here at Living Lord give thanks for the opportunity you've set before us. You know our hearts, you know our needs, you know what's best for us. We trust you and know that you are preparing just the right person to be our pastor. We ask you, Father, to prepare us as well. Make our heart, mind and spirit open to recognize and receive them when you are ready to send them to us. Guide us now and in the years to come to stay on the Way. In the name of your Son, our dear Savior, we pray. Amen.
