The scripture for today is Psalm 127:3.
“Children are a heritage from the LORD,
offspring a reward from him.”
This verse causes me to reflect on my place or time in life. Children are a blessing from God. This verse recognizes that we are all part of God’s plan and his resources for his plan.
The entire Psalm 127 describes how we toil in vain if we do not recognize God as the author of life. If we as humans aren’t guided by his principles, decrees and commandments we fall under weight of being merely human and living broken in our relationship with God. In Psalm 123 children are described as a gift from God and I believe that you should celebrate this gift and guide the child carefully because you have been entrusted with their wellbeing. If we follow this logic, then we fulfill our personal destiny and start our children on a positive personal journey in their lives.
God wants us and our children to live a fulfilled life. A life that is fruitful because we work for his kingdom and we teach our children to work in the same way. Work is often misunderstood today because we tend to not understand that all work is “good work”. Work helps us to grow physically, mentally and spiritually. I have worked alongside men and women in business and the military who do their earthly work professionally because they love people and God. They strive every day for excellence to please their God, family and society. The earlier we teach our children this, the more fruitful God’s kingdom becomes.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father thank-you for loving us and entrusting us with children. Help us to understand our responsibility to grow in our love for one another through work in your earthly kingdom. Amen
