The reading for today is Psalm 26: 1 – 8, KJV. "Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore, I shall not slide. Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth. I have sat with vain persons, neither will go with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers. I will wash mine hands in innocency: so, will I compass thine alter, O Lord. That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wonderous works. Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and thy place where thine honour dwellth."
This psalm of David is very interesting. It is almost as if Paul looked at this psalm when writing the seventh chapter of Romans. David is concerned about the Lord judging him. Then he writes how he trusted in the Lord. And in this trust, he was able to avoid "sliding".
We used to call those who remove themselves from faith "backsliders". Then David talks about how he did sit with "vain" persons. Did David stray away from the faith in the Lord? David then writes how he washed his hands of innocence. Again, take a look at Romans seven.
He continues to write how he will compass God's alter. To compass would be to take full measure. A compass also shows us the way to the Lord in this psalm. David will publish and tell who ever will listen all that the Lord does in his life. David is human, Just like each of us.
Remember, David was a man after God's own heart. David even tells God to prove him in his heart. David had faith God would be there for him in every measure of the day. That type of faith is what each of us need every day. Pray for faith and strength in the Lord. Pray for what Jesus has done in your life and what He continues to do each day.
Prayer Concern – Please be with those who have removed themselves from faith.
