The reading is from Isaiah 43:8-13

8 Lead out those who have eyes but are blind,

who have ears but are deaf.

9 All the nations gather together

and the peoples assemble.

Which of their gods foretold this

and proclaimed to us the former things?

Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right,

so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”

10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD,

“and my servant whom I have chosen,

so that you may know and believe me

and understand that I am he.

Before me no god was formed,

nor will there be one after me.

11 I, even I, am the LORD,

and apart from me there is no savior.

12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—

I, and not some foreign god among you.

You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.

13 Yes, and from ancient days I am he.

No one can deliver out of my hand.

When I act, who can reverse it?”

Sometimes I am a little wishy washy about God. I mean I will always say and try to think consciously what I believe about God but honestly I don't always behave or think in ways that reflect one of the base tenets that I put forth to the confirmation students that God is God.

But when I read sections of the Bible like found in Isaiah, I am reminded why I really love God. God is always adamant that He is the end all be all. The Almighty and Everlasting. The "There are no other gods but Me" Savior that the world needs. God is not boastful about it or condescending in His statements; it is just pure truth. God is God and there is no worming your way around that.

The final verse says it all: Yes, and from ancient days I am He. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?" God has been here forever and will be here forever and each thing He does stands eternal. Which is pretty awesome for us as His children. When he utilizes us for His Good Works, what we do stands eternal also. I like that. The things I do to further the Kingdom are eternal. That is awesome.

Lord, use my hands, my words, my heart to further your Will so that I may be part of all that is good and eternal. Amen.
