The scripture reading today is Matthew 8:23-27

23 Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. 24 Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26 Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm

27 The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”

In our lives it is not unusual to occasionally find ourselves in a situation where we are totally lost behind circumstances or situations over which we have no control or understanding. It could be a financial reversal that destroys our savings plus renders us deeply in debt. It could be the result of a serious accident which leaves us in a critical physical condition unable to move our bodies and address our physical needs. Or we could see where such a situation has fallen on a loved one or close family member.

What we would typically do under these circumstances would be to do our best to locate a person or a human organization that is steeped in the knowledge and ability to reverse the horrible conditions we are suffering under. We would want to have a chance to move out of the debilitating situation to be self sufficient in living our life. If we find such an ability to break free of such a devastating situation it would be very natural to look upon the individual or organization with great wonder and amazement just as the disciples looked upon Jesus. We have been given the tools to work situations like this through our belief in Jesus and prayer with the Holy Father.

Dear Heavenly Father I pray that You will bless me with the gift of becoming stronger to give others the knowledge and understanding that they can move out of life’s difficult situations through their belief in Jesus and use of the prayer tools which we have been blessed.

Prayer Concern: Those that are suffering because of circumstances or situations out of their control. That they might turn to You, Lord.
